Jewelry Materials & Quality

Know What You’re Wearing

We believe you should always know what your jewelry is made of. That’s why we’re committed to clearly describing the materials used in each piece, so you can shop with confidence and choose jewelry that fits your style, preferences, and everyday life.

From classic sterling silver to gold-plated finishes and sparkling cubic zirconia, every material has its own characteristics. Below is a simple guide to help you understand what you’re purchasing.

Gold Jewelry

14K & 18K Gold

14K and 18K gold jewelry is made with real gold combined with other metals to create a durable and wearable material.

14K Gold contains approximately 58.5% pure gold, with the remainder made up of other metals. It offers a balance of gold content, durability, and everyday wearability.

18K Gold contains approximately 75% pure gold, giving it a richer gold content and a warmer, more luxurious appearance. Because it contains more pure gold, it is generally softer than 14K gold.

When a product is made with solid 14K or 18K gold, the product listing will specify the karat and material.

Gold-Plated Jewelry

Gold-plated jewelry consists of a base metal covered with a layer of gold.

Gold plating provides the appearance of gold while offering a more accessible price point than solid gold. Because the gold layer is relatively thin, the finish can gradually wear with regular use, particularly when exposed to friction, moisture, chemicals, perfumes, or lotions.

For longer-lasting plating, we recommend treating gold-plated jewelry with care and storing it in a dry place when you're not wearing it.

Important: Gold-plated jewelry should not be assumed to be solid gold or permanently waterproof. The exact base metal and plating specifications will be provided on the individual product page.

Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil is a type of gold-plated sterling silver. To be considered vermeil, the jewelry uses sterling silver as its base metal and has a layer of gold applied to the surface.

Gold vermeil combines the look of gold with a sterling silver foundation, making it a popular choice for customers looking for a higher-quality alternative to standard gold-plated jewelry.

As with any plated finish, the gold surface may gradually show wear over time depending on how frequently the piece is worn and how it is cared for.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver is a widely used jewelry material made primarily from silver, typically consisting of 92.5% silver, with the remaining portion made from other metals to improve strength and durability.

You may see sterling silver identified as 925 silver or 925 sterling silver.

Sterling silver can naturally develop tarnish over time when exposed to air, moisture, and certain chemicals. This is normal and does not necessarily mean the jewelry is damaged. Regular cleaning and proper storage can help maintain its appearance.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a durable metal commonly used for everyday jewelry. It is known for its strength and resistance to corrosion compared with many other metals.

Depending on the specific product, stainless steel jewelry may feature a polished, brushed, colored, or plated finish.

Because stainless steel jewelry can vary by grade and finish, we recommend checking the individual product description for the exact material specifications before purchasing.

Cubic Zirconia

Cubic zirconia, commonly abbreviated as CZ, is a lab-created gemstone designed to resemble the appearance of a diamond.

It is popular in jewelry because it offers excellent brilliance and clarity at a more accessible price point.

Cubic zirconia is not a diamond. It is a separate material with its own physical and optical characteristics.

Other Stones & Materials

Some of our jewelry may feature additional gemstones, crystals, pearls, or other decorative materials.

When a piece contains a specific stone or material, we aim to identify it clearly in the individual product description. Because different stones and materials have different characteristics, care instructions may vary from piece to piece.

If you have questions about a specific product, please refer to its product page or contact us before purchasing.

Waterproof & Water-Resistance Information

Not all jewelry is designed for exposure to water.

Terms such as waterproof, water-resistant, and water-repellent can mean different things, so we do not use these claims as a blanket statement across our entire collection.

Unless a product is specifically identified as water-resistant or waterproof in its product description, we recommend keeping your jewelry away from:

  • Water and prolonged moisture
  • Swimming pools and hot tubs
  • Salt water
  • Perfume and fragrances
  • Lotions and creams
  • Household chemicals
  • Excessive sweat

Avoiding these exposures can help preserve the appearance and finish of your jewelry.

Hypoallergenic Information

Jewelry sensitivity can vary from person to person.

We only describe a product as hypoallergenic when that claim is supported by the specific materials and product specifications. A material being commonly considered skin-friendly does not guarantee that every person will have the same experience.

If you have known metal sensitivities or allergies, please review the material information for each product carefully and contact us if you need additional information before purchasing.

Jewelry Care

Proper care can help your jewelry maintain its appearance for longer.

We recommend:

Keep it dry
Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, or bathing unless the product is specifically identified as suitable for water exposure.

Apply beauty products first
Allow perfumes, lotions, creams, and other products to absorb or dry before putting on your jewelry.

Store it properly
Keep jewelry in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity. Storing pieces separately can also help prevent scratching and tangling.

Clean gently
Use an appropriate soft jewelry cloth when cleaning your pieces. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners unless they are specifically recommended for that material.

Wear it thoughtfully
Remove jewelry before activities that involve heavy impact, excessive friction, chemicals, or prolonged exposure to moisture.

Material Transparency Matters

We want you to feel confident about every piece you purchase from us. Material information is provided on individual product pages whenever possible, including the metal type, gold finish, stones, and other relevant materials.

Because jewelry construction and finishes can vary from product to product, always refer to the individual product listing for the most accurate material and care information.

If you have a question about a particular piece, we're happy to help you understand exactly what you're purchasing before you place your order.
